Cryptocurrency research startup Messari announced today it has closed a $4 million funding round, led by Uncork Capital with participation from Blockchain Capital, CoinFund, Danhua Capital, Fenbushi Capital, Coinbase Ventures, and former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan.

The firm, founded a year ago, raised a $1 million seed round in May 2018 from Danhua Capital, Blockchain Capital, Anthemis Group, and others, with many returning for the latest round.

According to Messari CEO and former CoinDesk managing director Ryan Selkis, more than 60 token projects and several of "the world's largest exchanges, funds, and information service providers" are using Messari's data services. Selkis said the newly raised fund will be used to ramp up its data ingestion processes and expand its product offering. The firm also recently launched market intelligence services to monitor cryptocurrency circulation, per a company statement.
